Research, Development, and Commercialization Experience
We hold the skills necessary for turning theory into commercially available solutions, taking ideas from liaison with clients and scientific literature through stages of development and testing, to ultimately offer new commercial solutions for concrete.
Our leading example is with Penkal Realkalization Solution, having been developed in response to Transport for NSW requests for such a product, and having undergone years of iteration and testing to ultimately produce the effective solution we offer today.
In the development of our formulations, we used a range of skills necessary for the production of the material, including:
- Formulation development
- Testing to assess formulation performances and limitations
- Materials sourcing and guarantee of local suppliers
- Production methods and equipment
- Application procedure, equipment, and safety accommodation
We’re currently using these capacities for the development of new novel products in response to identified limitations in the market for protective coatings, with more information to be released as development progresses.
Revenue Through Product Lines
We seek to make our solutions affordable to potential client by seeking revenue predominantly through the development of new product lines and markets, rather than from client fees. What this practically means is that if a client approaches us wanting a solution to a novel issue that they face, we may then research, develop, and offer a solution at a similar cost to that which could be expected off any other product on the market.
Penkal Realkalization Solution was developed this way, where we recognized that the market for passive realkalization applications would be sufficient to cover our research and development costs, and so the initial client simply bore costs approximately to the market value of the product.
Control Formulation to Application
We control not only the formulation of new products and solutions, but can also identify the application methods and practices necessary of particular solutions.
For our Penkal Realkalization Solution, we not only developed the formulation but also recognized that the formulation had specific requirements for application which would’ve either limited the solutions effectiveness or been unsuitable for common application methods of similar products. Further, the lack of proven passive realkalization solutions prior to ours meant that there was great importance in providing consistently successful and safe application of the formulation.
As such, we developed Penkal as a supply-and-apply service using our in-house applicators, providing clients greater certainty over the success of passive realkalization and greater ease to address issues and limitations around this.
